THIS ALBUM IS ALMOST TOO GOOD.
I’ve had it reccomended to me for a few weeks now, but I finally gave it a chance and it is all I listen to. Rina Sawayama has truly crafted a modern masterpiece. Somehow she manages to capture straight up mid-2000s bops, nu-metal, stadium rock, and sad girl all in one neat little package.
Right from the opener Dynasty you know you’re in for something special. Rina lays out the issues in her life, framed as a long running familial problem and then from there you’re strapped in for the ride.
There is no lull in SAWAYAMA, every song is a perfectly crafted beauty, with outstanding beautiful production and stunning vocals from Rina. Shout out SAWAYAMA, the most addicting album I’ve heard all year.
